Coach Dave Mikel is responsible for the design and implementation of strength and speed programs for all athletes.
Prior to opening Performance Edge as its Head Strength & Performance Coach & CEO David helped Mark Nemish (Strength Coach, NHL Washington Capitals) open and operate Dynamic Sports Performance (Ashburn, VA). As the Head Strength & Performance Coach at Dynamic Sports Performance David’s responsibilities included but were not limited to providing strength training, program design, facility maintenance and daily operations from 2004 to 2010. David also assisted Mark Nemish with the Washington Capitals Rookie Camp and Capitals Team Pre-Season physical evaluations and assessments. David was the head strength and conditioning coach, for four seasons with the NFL’s European Football League. His responsibilities consisted of organizing, implementing and handling all aspects of the in-season strength and conditioning program for the Scottish Claymores (2004) and the Barcelona Dragons (2001-2003).
David obtained his Master of Science degree in exercise science, with a physical education/kinesiology double emphasis, in 2001 from the University of Northern Colorado. As a graduate assistant at the UNC Campus Recreation and Fitness Center, David worked alongside the Denver Broncos staff assisting them during the 1998-2000 preseason-training camps, obtaining Rich Tuten’s (the head strength and conditioning coach) recommendation for the NFL European League position. Throughout his collegiate career he worked as a fitness consultant and a personal trainer at several local health clubs
He is a member of both the National Strength and Conditioning Association and American College of Sports Medicine. He is CPR and First Aid certified and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
